Another great year for Tramlines

I’ve just had a great weekend at Tramlines 2010 - I’ve never seen so many people out and watching live music in Sheffield. Touted as Europe’s largest free music festival, the event spanned over 50 venues across the city centre.

The only regret is that I couldn’t be in two places at once. I was lucky enough to see (among others) Arch Nazards, Cats:For:Peru, Party Horse, The Heartbreaks, Little Glitches, Shake Aletti, Hiem, Lords of Flatbush, Mystery Jets and headliners Echo and The Bunnymen, all of which were ace.

From a punter’s point of view, the event looked like a massive success. The main outdoor stage at Devonshire Green was packed right until Echo and the Bunnymen left the stage, who were joined by Richard Hawley for their encore of the Velvet Underground’s “I’m Waiting for the man”.

Everywhere you turned in the city, there was music playing. A brilliant atmosphere and a great event - I’m sure we’ll be doing it all again next year.
